With the releases of their albums Electric Soldiers (2008) and Cat Fit Fury! (2010), The Van Jets have established themselves as one of Belgium’s most wanted rock ‘n roll bands, often reviewed as a mash up of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and T. Rex into a delicate mix of violence and melodic beauty.
Both albums contained number one hit singles in Belgium. Single ‘The Future’ (2010) was the most played song on Studio Brussel in 2010 and turned into a real youth anthem. The Van Jets built up a notorious live reputation, selling out every possible club and billing all major festivals, such as Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Dour Festival, Marktrock, etc They also toured extensively in the Netherlands, Germany and Scandinavia.
For their third album HALO (2012) Jeroen De Pessemier aka Papillon from Belgian electro sensation The Subs teamed up with The Van Jets as their producer, which has resulted in a whole new fresh sound for the band. While staying loyal to their rock ‘n roll song-based philosophy, The Van Jets took a more groove-oriented approach, with elements from hip hop and funk infiltrating their universe and layers of synths claiming a more prominent role. The album was recorded at Philippe Zdar’s (Cassius) famous Motor Bass studio, which has already welcomed artists such as Phoenix, Cat Power and Serge Gainsbourg. Tchad Blake (The Black Keys, The Dandy Warhols, Tom Waits) mixed the album.
